Hello friends,
As we move into the cozy season of fall, I wanted to introduce (or re-introduce) you to this ancient meditation technique called Pratyahar (prat- YA- haar) Meditation. Pratyahar in Sanskrit means “the withdrawing of senses,” meaning to release yourself from the 5 senses and move totally within. This ancient practice helps to calm the nervous system, relax the mind and body, and connect with the spirit. Using the flame, we allow ourselves to focus, and then slowly retract our awareness inward. This candle flame can be an excellent tool for those of us who might find traditional meditation (with the eyes closed) uncomfortable, or as a fun variant to your normal meditation practice.
